Nike React Infinity Flyknit Running Shoe

I finally broke down and restarted my love for running again. Instead of using my Vapormax from three years ago, which worked well, I opted in for a new pair. Nike’s newest all around running shoe.
The Nike React Infinity Run Flyknit. Essentially it could be called an upgrade to the Epic React 2. But the bells and whistles attached to this shoe give the authority for the name change. Debuting the new Flyknit Loft upper. Three layers of fabric, each with their own purpose; keeping your feet glued to the shoe, creating consistent breathability and efficiently making the shoe more durable. Rolling with the most React Foam ever put into a running shoe. 24% more compared to the 2019 Epic React. Last but not least, the shoe features a slight rocker to ease each stride.
It is also the first ever shoe to statistically lower your chances of running related injuries. Studies were conducted through the British Columbia Sports Medicine Research Foundation. Consisting of 226 men and women over a twelve-week program who ran a total of 60,000 miles! Results showed there was a 52% lowered injury rate amongst those wearing the Infinity Runs.
Overall this shoe is exactly what I needed. It is light. It eases the stress of my added quarantine weight. Simple design. HAS REACT FOAM. And is very forgiving.
My favourite aspects of this shoe are the rocker in the midsole and the updated amount of React Foam. I have never had a pair of running shoes with a rocker integrated into the shoe, and it was a fun opening run. By no means is it to the same extent as the Vaporfly Next%’s or the unreleased Air Zoom Alphafly Next%’s. Those shoes are both in their own category of technology and purpose. But the rocker that is used in the Infinity Runs is nearly perfect. It’s subtle enough that it doesn’t shock you while taking strides, but you can still feel it into the sluggish times.

Next is the React Foam. React Foam has changed my outlook on shoes and I have sadly (happily) moved beyond Air because of the comfort I get with this foam. It is light, durable, springy and loves to be beat up. Soft enough landings but also, dense enough to make you not feel the ground beneath you. With nearly the same feel after each kilometre ran.
My biggest issue with the shoe is the new 3 layered Flyknit Loft. Yes it keeps my foot attached to the shoe. Lowering my chances of blistering or rolling my ankle. But maybe because I’m a Flyknit elitist, the breathability doesn’t live up to the standard of OG Flyknit. I knew it wouldn’t, and I understand why it can’t. And maybe feet are supposed to sweat after 5k. I don’t know! Maybe I'm asking too much.
The Nike React Infinity Run Flyknit come in a full assortment of colours. Designed for both men and women. Reasonably priced at $215. I would recommend this pair of shoes.
Overall: 8.6/10
Wow !! The new technology for shoes is truly amazing ! I still remember the joy of long runs in the late 70’s wearing my waffle soles. Looking back I’m sure my knees would have appreciated the new technology. Enjoy the running.
